Description
TIG stands for tungsten inert gas and the technique is more technically known as GTAW or gas tungsten arc welding. The process gives you greater control over the weld than other processes such as MIG which means stronger, better quality welds.
This welder, with its advanced single-phase inverter power source, is very portable and manoeuvrable. The user-friendly control panel shows a digital weld cycle, welding modes and the unit has an autosave memory function on shut down.
Materials that can be used with this machine: Any metals, except flammables, such as magnesium. AC allows all non-ferrous materials, and DC allows ferrous materials only.
The Tig Welder is bookable by the day by members who have passed the requisite assessment.
Training/Assessments
All training/assessments are to ensure that you are using the machines safely and correctly, overall.
You will be taught how to turn the machines on/off, location of emergency stop, and all safety measures & ground rules for each machine.
Things you will learn in this training:
- Basic settings for AC (Non-ferrous materials)
- Basic settings for DC (Ferrous materials)
- Gas bottle arrangement
- Helmet settings
- Basic welding techniques
- Troubleshooting
If you already know how to use the machine, be sure to book an assessment before use. The assessments are put in place for everyone's benefit, so our technicians can oversee that you will use the machines correctly, but most importantly, safely!
