A highly versatile tool, able to cut and engrave a wide range of materials, it has a 120W CO2 cooled tube with a working area of 1.245 x 710mm.

In terms of which materials this process is useful for, the rule of thumb is, if you can burn it, you can probably cut or etch it. So, the materials you can use on this machine are: Solid timber, laminates (laser grade!), fabrics, paper/card, plastics/acrylics (No PVC, polycarbonate, or metal). If you can’t burn it, you can probably still etch it, so materials such as glass, stone, or ceramics can be successfully etched, but not cut. In some circumstances its possible to do a chemical etch on metal surfaces as well.

Training/Assessments

All training/assessments are to ensure that you are using the machines safely and correctly, overall.

You will be taught how to turn the machines on/off, location of emergency stop, and all safety measures & ground rules for each machine.

Required pre-requisite knowledge:

- Basic computer skills

- Basic understanding and prior experience with CAD-based software (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, AutoCAD, CorelDraw, etc.)

Things you will learn in this training:

- Basic geometry creation and editing in CorelDraw

- Basic training in the laser-operating software, JobControl

- Setting the laser parameters for your materials (cutting, engraving or chemical etching)

- General operation of the machine

If you already know how to use the machine, be sure to book an assessment before use. The assessments are put in place for everyone's benefit, so our technicians can oversee that you will use the machines correctly, but most importantly, safely!
