We Are Hiring! Head of Workshop

Building BloQs is a rapidly growing social enterprise that provides flexible and affordable access to professional workshop space and equipment to support London’s freelance makers, small businesses and designers.

We are recruiting for a critical and creative thinker to carry out a varied role as our Head of Workshop. You will look after our machine stock, assess new members’ ability to use machines, providing machine training where needed and assist by developing, delivering and managing new systems for the happy and safe use of our workshops.

This role will require you to have technical, interpersonal and administrative skills. Naturally you will need to understand how machines work and what their needs are, but you must also be able to convey that understanding to others and be available for their technical queries. You will need to have mastered the administrative requirements for refining and then overseeing operational procedures and the management skills to care for and recruit a growing workshop team.

This is highly important role in our organisation and you will be taking operational responsibility for delivering our core purpose. As well as an opportunity to have growing role as the company expands, its also your chance to develop your own responsibilities in a company with an express social purpose.

You will have experience in a professional, educational, or industry workshop and will have taught machine use. Experience in industry with a technological &/or an engineering background is highly desirable.

You will be able to demonstrate a track record of successful project delivery, an ability to manage a budget, knowledge of operational management, digital and analogue machine experience and have an eye for problem solving solutions.

40 hours with a work pattern that includes some Saturdays and evenings.
